 MENU FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 26, 2012
We survived Thanksgiving and lived to tell the tale.  It’s a great holiday, but a lot of work all of which makes me wish I was an energetic kid of 50 once again….
Then there is the cleanup.  Sheets and towels for 13.  Easily a dozen loads of laundry.  And surely Warner must have done at least 600 loads in the dishwasher.  But it is worth it to get everyone together and catch up on their lives.

The problem this year was that Peter, aged 11, came down with a bug Friday night.  He clearly was an uncomfortable – although  good natured – kid.  Problem was he has been taught to share.  And share he did.  So now both Warner and I are down with a slight touch of the Black Plague (so much for flu shots) and are really miserable.  To this end, although I put together this menu earlier in the week, Warner’s shots will show some changes. I am really not hungry and for the most part don’t want anything more complex than chicken noodle soup.

From this point through the end of the week, the menu kind of fell away.

We will list what we had for the rest of the week, but it is left overs and take out. My cooking is done, save cranberry sauce Thursday morning. Virginia now carries the brunt, I just keep the dishwasher going.

MENU FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 12, 2012

Of late I've been rather caught up in the storms, the elections; the start of some dental work that I lost track of what time of year it was – especially with Thanksgiving coming essentially a week earlier.   Ooops.  I’m behind the eight ball, but somehow will catch up…I think.  I have a working menu to start on.  Now I need a head count.  And the same kind of energy I had twenty years ago…..

So this will be a busy week and I need to keep my food rather simple and non labor intensive – or at least as low as possible.  Next week will be leftovers and Chinese take-out on Tues – if Warner is lucky. Then we get into our annual food frenzy. And I’ll swear, as I do every year, that next year we’ll just order pizza….
