MENU
FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 10, 2013
This
week the weather continues to drive us nuts.
A planned BBQ chicken with White BBQ Sauce goes into the oven
instead. We are still running space
heaters, and put it this way, I haven’t had to water the garden too much.
On
the deck, the herbs are doing well so far.
This is the first year I’ve been able to winter over Tarragon – it’s
growing into a lovely stand and is very pretty.
I have a large stand of regular chives that is eye catching and a
smaller stand of garlic chives coming along.
Also Spearmint, Basil, Sage and the Rosemary I brought inside for the
winder. All filling out nicely.
Tomatoes
are starting to fill out and we have almost a dozen baby tomatoes started. Don’t know if they will get to the finish
line, however. They prefer sun and
warmer temps.
Found
potted dinner plate dahlias at my nursery.
Never occurred to me that this would work, but they seem to be
happy. So with them, the Gerbera daisies
and the large Marigolds – I finally have a little cutting garden….If these go
through the summer I’d do more next year.
I
am yet again trying summer squash in pots with yet again, no success. I have the feeling the blossoms are being
used as snack for by a four legged critter who goes by the name of Julia Child. You’d think we didn't feed her…….
