We
are having a real thaw here this week.
Temperatures hovering around 60. Lovely. I hate freezing my butt off and I also loathe
paying money to Con Edison. Be more efficient to just burn the money in the
stove directly.
Last
weekend we had some good –for-the –soul winter food. Nothing a visually comforting as a big old
standing rib. It will be a Jacques
Pepin’s beef pie tonight. Sun I was
going to to a Coq-au-Vin. But as I was a
tad under the weather I opted for a simple roast chicken. Nothing in the world better than than when
one is not feeling well.
Originally
I had been going to serve Julia Child’s lobster oven New Years, but we got to
the store too late. So, I will cook it
Sat. to brighten up a gray Feb. evening.
Sun.
we’ll be attending Michael Tietz’ Broadway Bach Ensemble up at
Columbia. An afternoon of Beethoven
followed by a veal braise. Life is
good…
