MENU FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 15, 2013

The word for this week is HEAT.  This is the seventh straight day of temps in the high 90s or above.  And with the humidity, well the real feel index is simply:  Unbearable.  Which of course, was reason enough to do a road trip to Rhinebeck – which was even hotter?  No never mind, we were in a/c and probably were more comfortable than we would have been at home

We had lunch in the Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck.  They’ve been around since 1766 – and it shows.  Faboulous and real ambiance.  Old pewter, old rifles, old beams. All very pleasant and the food was good.

Then we headed out down the road to Warren’s.  Warren’s is to us what Harry Winston was to Elizabeth Taylor.  Fabulous cookware.  The best selection of serious knives I’ve ever seen. And so on.  They also sharpen knives.  So about once a year we collect the worst offenders (this time we had ten). Fortunately our “Battery de Cuisine” is in pretty good shape.  Still we always manage to pick up a thing or two….
